Guatemala Highlight Video . . .

October 30, 2008 at 5:17 pm (Loving God Loving Other)

Here is some video from my time in Guatemala . . . To be honest, there is no way this can express what it was really like, but if you want to meet over coffee, I can try and share with you.  The reason this blog has gotten less “action” than steve urkel is I am still debriefing a lot of stuff with God.

I leave this morning (15th) and return on Monday (20th) from what I imagine will be a world rocking experience in Guatemala. Please pray for the team of 5 and those God will use us to Love. Please life my family up as I am away from them on this journey of Loving God through Loving Others!

So worth it . . .

October 13, 2008 at 12:11 am (Family, Loving God Loving Other, Technology)

Being without phone, computer, and all technology / connectology was so worth it and a God thing. I really didn’t have the shakes or miss it at all. The one thing I missed was the fact that I use my phone for a watch . . . but quickly got past that as we got further into vacation and time wasn’t really a factor. I didn’t realize how much I use my phone and computer until I told Weatherly I wasn’t taking my phone or computer and she responded something to the effect, “daddy, we get you all to ourselves!” Now, that will hit you where it hurts. Here are a couple of pictures to share with you – everything else is for us . . . unless you check out my wife’s blog (she says her joy is to share).

BIG Announcement . . .

October 4, 2008 at 6:27 pm (Church, Family, Leadership, Loving God Loving Other)

I didn’t see a burning bush, but I have heard from the Lord . . . I have talked to Nikki about it and even told another person or two who have confirmed this move.  Tomorrow – I have a BIG announcement!  I really could never imagine myself doing this or wanting to do this, but I am so excited and know I am being lead to honor God through this.  Check back tomorrow . . .

Don’t you just love surprises . . .

not actually people from story

not actually people from story

Today we were able to connect one of the homeless women from the bible study Ken and I lead on Monday nights with her son in San Diego . . . Caroline is a sweet lady in her (well, it’s hard to tell – living on the streets will age you quickly), I would say 50’s or 60’s and has cancer.  Over the past week she has chosen to finally open up to one of the other ladies about some things and after bible study this week – it was brought to my attention – the only thing she needed was a way to get to her son.  He would take her in!

I told the lady who was telling me all of this . . . Caroline needs to talk with Pastor 7 about her desire.    I have prayed for her and asked God to make things work out for her and God has just kept her on my heart.  Today Ken and I were talking about her and the fact God continued to have her on my heart . . . so he and I checked into a bus ticket from ATL to San Diego ($220.00 over 2 day) and a plane ticket ($149 to $184 Airtrain) . . . Follow all of this up – Weatherly came and asked me, “daddy, what is San Diego?”  She must have heard us talking about the whole thing . . . I told her one of our homeless friends needed somewhere to live and San Diego was where her family is and there was a place there.  I told her we just have to figure out the way to take care of it.  Weatherly told me, “daddy, you know what it takes to make a home and to help people – you can fix her problems!”  DONE DEAL!  Thank you God for childlike faith and a 4 year old who Loves God through Loving Others . . . I called Pastor 7!

Pastor 7 has talked with Caroline’s son and he said, “please send my momma home” . . . So momma will be going home.  Granny (Nikki’s grandmother) asked me how are you going to do that – you don’t have a job?  God is . . . but he can use me or us.  It would take 20 of us (being what the church should be) to give $10 and that would cover the flight, seat, baggage charge, taxes and fees or God will use my family with out a job I told her.  CAROLINE IS GOING HOME – GOD WILLING!
